New in Quip Chat: Emoji Reactions, Message Forwarding, And More

By Clayton Miller

Quip documents, spreadsheets, and slides have built-in chat, so teams can have real-time conversations in the context of their work. Context is a key ingredient to help teams be more productive together, and with more and more people working remotely, staying connected to your teammates is more important than ever. Today we’re pleased to announce that we’ve added enhancements to the chat experience in Quip, so that teams can communicate more effectively and in a more human way.

More Ways to React

Have you ever wanted to react to something, but “liking” it simply wasn’t enough? Now, you can add visual emphasis to the conversations happening in Quip. Just select the perfect emoji reaction to share your feelings with your teammates.

At Salesforce, we've been using emoji reactions in Quip for a few months, and we think it will change how you interact with your teammates. Sure, you can still “like” messages... but what about 🎉? Close a big deal? How about 💰. Making a comment on an updated forecast? We say 📈🙌.

GIFs, Stickers, and Videos

In addition to emoji reactions, we’ve also enhanced your ability to chat in living color. We’ve added thousands more gifs and stickers to brighten up your conversations. And now, you can drag and drop video files into the chat so teammates can play them immediately, right in the conversation.

Message Forwarding

Did you know that nearly two-thirds of sales reps’ time, on average, is spent in non-revenue-generating activities? That includes quote generation, data entry, and of course — copying and pasting information in multiple chat tools to keep everyone on the same page.

We’ve now added message forwarding to help keep valuable conversational data in context. For those working in Quip for Customer 360, that makes it easier to keep conversations inside Salesforce so that important decisions don’t get lost as complex deal cycles move forward, or as teams collaborate around goals and deadlines. Messages and comments can be forwarded from one conversation to multiple other chats, so that teams can keep work inside of Salesforce.

Get Started Today

We hope these improvements to messaging in Quip encourage you to chat more with your teammates right where you work, and less in disconnected email and chat apps. As you begin to use the new reaction emojis, we would love to hear of new and inventive ways your team chooses to use them — let us know on twitter at @Quip.
